GONE AWAY AND AWRY

The electricity has failed us . . .

DEPARTURE

The Dragonfly is slowly departing,
leaving me the loss of its magic,
the blue of its wings
in memory only . . .
but a torturous one with a blue
like no other,
a blue much more than just a color,
the blue that filled
those tortured grassy beaches
of Waveland
that August . . .
that damned August!

RED NO. 10

Sometimes I wish I was red in a beautiful way,
not in a rageful way. . .

FLOATING INTO THE BLUE

I want to float away into the blue light
into the starry sky
of the euphoric night
the whys
or wheres
don't matter now
it's just that time . . .

I feel, somehow.

CURBSIDE AFTER OCTOBER RAIN

Stepping out to check my mail I looked down and discovered an amazing little world of activity at my feet.
At the curb, a deep hole of broken asphalt, which I had always fussed about, had helped fallen leaves, pinestraw, and other minute pieces of storm debris to create a magic world. I was captivated by the minute sounds of flowing water and the bubbles created. The dangerous hole had been transformed into a small world of beauty with sounds of water music to accompany the rich wet colors of Fall.

Sometimes what we dislike and fuss about can, at some point, bring us a surprise of wonder and beauty - if we look down and take time to appreciate it all.
